Martin Fiebich

Prof. Dr. Martin Fiebich serves as Professor of Medical Physics and Radiation Protection at the Central Hesse University of Applied Sciences (THM), where he holds multiple leadership roles including Vice Dean of the Life Sciences and Engineering Faculty and Managing Director of the Institute for Medical Physics and Radiation Protection. He also serves as Spokesperson for the Competence Center for Biotechnology and Biomedical Physics and Head of the Bachelor's Program in Medical Physics and Radiation Protection.

With a Diploma in Physics (1988) and Doctorate in Medicinal Sciences (1994, summa cum laude) from the University of Münster, his research focuses on radiation protection, medical imaging optimization, and dosimetry. His extensive work spans CT/CBCT optimization, Monte Carlo simulations for dose calculation, image quality assessment, and radiation safety protocols across diagnostic and interventional radiology settings.

His publication record demonstrates consistent contributions to radiation dose optimization, particularly in CT imaging, pediatric applications, and occupational radiation safety. Key trends include development of dose management systems, evaluation of radiation protection equipment, and protocols for minimizing exposure while maintaining diagnostic image quality. His work bridges clinical practice with technical innovation in medical physics.

Prof. Fiebich maintains significant professional engagement as Vice President of the German Society for Medical Physics (2021-2023), member of the German Radiological Society board, Chairman of the DIN Radiology Standards Committee, and active participant in International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) activities. He also serves as editor-in-chief of the journal 'mt – Medizintechnik'.

His teaching portfolio includes courses in Applied Medical Physics, Medical Imaging Systems, Image Processing, and Radiation Protection across multiple degree programs including Bachelor's and Master's programs in Medical Physics and Biomedical Engineering.
