Professor Martin Dyke is a faculty member at the University of Southampton, currently serving as a Professorial Fellow in Education and former Head of the Southampton Education School. He holds advanced degrees including a PhD, MSc, BA (hons), and PGCE. His research focuses on policy innovation in post-school education, emphasizing lifelong learning, experiential learning, and widening participation. He is actively supervising PhD students in areas like critical realism and educational transitions.
Research Interests: Dr. Dyke's work integrates critical realism theory (Margaret Archer) and realist methodology (Ray Pawson) to address educational participation barriers. His studies explore how contextual factors influence learning outcomes, particularly for marginalized groups. He is affiliated with the Leadership, Effective Education and Policy (LEEP) group and the India Centre for Inclusive Growth.
Teaching: Current modules include Teaching and Learning Pedagogy, Lifelong Learning, and Sociology of Education. He has mentored 9 PhD graduates whose theses span topics like classroom behavior management, critical thinking in education, and private higher education quality assessment.
