Dr. Martin Drapeau is a Professor of Counselling Psychology and Psychiatry at McGill University, holding adjunct roles at the University of Sherbrooke. He chairs the McGill Psychotherapy Process Research Group (MPPRG) and co-chairs Science & Practice in Psychology, focusing on evidence-based practice and knowledge translation. His research emphasizes psychotherapy outcomes, best practices dissemination, and mental health access improvement. He has secured funding from CIHR, SSHRC, and Quebec agencies, publishing widely in clinical psychology journals. Dr. Drapeau is affiliated with Quebec-based research networks like Qualaxia and the International Centre for Comparative Criminology.
He held leadership roles as former Program Director at McGill, Research Scholar at Quebec Health Research Funds, and Quebec representative on the American Psychological Association. He led national taskforces on outcome tracking, evidence-based practice, and medical assistance in dying. Dr. Drapeau edited major journals including Canadian Psychology and founded Medipsy Psychological Services and Asadis, offering clinical services and continuing education. He is a Fellow of the CPA Clinical Section and Royal Society of Canada member.
His podcast Une expérience humaine discusses mental health topics, and he actively promotes access to psychotherapy via the Coalition for Access to Psychotherapy and advocacy efforts. The SAPP Lab at McGill houses his research on science-based interventions and clinician-researcher collaboration.
