Dr. Martin Armer is a Senior Clinical Lecturer in General Practice at Lancaster Medical School. He oversees the communication curriculum for the MB ChB course, drives faculty development for communication tutors, and serves as Secretary of the UK Council of Clinical Communication. His roles include Director of Year 5, leadership in undergraduate electives, and Deputy Director of postgraduate medical education programs.
His research focuses on feedback mechanisms, medical education policy, critical discourse analysis, and teaching excellence. He is also a practicing General Practitioner (GP) outside his academic duties.
Key activities include editorial contributions to Arts and Humanities in Higher Education, participation in workshops/seminars (e.g., Medical School Council Electives Committee, Rethinking Health), and reviewing for Advance HE Fellowships. He received the Best Teaching Poster award in 2018.
