Dr. Margaret Byrne is the Year 2 Integrated Clinical Methods (ICM) Lead on the Graduate Entry Medicine course at Swansea University Medical School and serves as a local General Practitioner (GP). She joined the ICM team in 2013 as a GP Clinical Tutor and became Module Lead that same year. Her roles include coordinating and delivering the ICM curriculum, teaching clinical and communication skills, and assessing clinical competencies. Since 2019, she has been part of the Clinical Assessment Team.
Areas of expertise include clinical skills development, clinical communication, and clinical assessment methodologies. She is an active member of the UK Council for Clinical Communication (UKCCC) since 2017 and UK Council of Clinical Skills and Simulation Teachers (UKCCSST) since 2016.
Margaret teaches the module PM-350D: Doctor as a Practitioner 2, focusing on foundational clinical skills for medical students. Her work emphasizes safe, practice-focused clinical training aligned with General Medical Council guidelines.
