Martin A. Fuchsberger

Dr. Martin A. Fuchsberger is a Senior Lecturer for Wind Orchestra Conducting at the University Mozarteum Salzburg since 2011 and a Senior Artist in Conducting at the Gustav Mahler Private University of Music in Klagenfurt. He holds a Privatdozent (habilitation) title in wind orchestra conducting (2018) and leads the part-time wind conducting program with the State of Salzburg. His roles include conducting the GMPU Symphony Orchestra, founding the GMPU Academy Orchestra (2023), and guest-conducting renowned orchestras like the Vienna Radio Symphony Orchestra and Bucheon Symphony Orchestra.

Education: Studied orchestral/conducting at Vienna Music Universities (BA 2005, MA 2008), with masterclasses under Jakov Kreizberg, Daniel Barenboim, and Jerome Preysinger. Early training included violin, voice (Salzburg Cathedral Boys’ Choir), piano, horn, organ, and singing.

Research focuses on wind orchestra repertoire development, conducting pedagogy, and cross-disciplinary projects with visual artist Lea Anders. Notable collaborations include Der Stern in mir and Emotionen in der Wirtschaft. Awards include the Erwin-Ortner Prize for choral conducting excellence.

Leadership extends to artistic direction roles with Salzburg University Orchestra (2009–2016), Sinfonietta St. Johann (2017–2023), and Bad Reichenhall Philharmonic. Maintains active jury roles at orchestral competitions and teaches at Salzburg College.
