Martha W. Habash

Martha W. Habash is a Professor in the Department of Fine & Performing Arts at Creighton University's College of Arts and Sciences, where she has taught since 1994. She holds a BA and PhD, and her academic work bridges classical literature, archaeology, and modern media interpretations.

Her research explores the intersection of religion and humor in ancient authors (Aristophanes, Petronius, Horace), Greek inscriptions in Jordan, and classical themes in film. Courses she teaches include Ancient Greek, Latin, and literature seminars on war and comedy.

Her publications reflect expertise in Petronian satire, Aristophanic comedy, Greek epigraphy in Jordan, and classical reception in television. Recent works analyze narrative techniques in Roman literature and comparative studies of ancient and modern tragic figures.

Dr. Habash serves as Creighton's liaison to Jesuit Worldwide Learning: Higher Education at the Margins, where she recruits faculty, teaches online courses, evaluates applicant essays, and interviews candidates for the diploma program.
