Martha Mannix is a Clinical Associate Professor of Law and the Gloria McDermott Hickton Professor of Elder Law at the University of Pittsburgh School of Law. She directs the John P. Gismondi Civil Litigation Certificate Program. Her research focuses on elder law, guardianship reform, and trial/appellate practice.
- Education: JD from University of California, Hastings College of the Law; BA from University of Vermont.
Her work includes foundational research on Pennsylvania guardianship reform, leading to an Orphans' Court pilot project using special masters. She co-developed the Guide for Guardians with the Southwestern Pennsylvania Partnership on Aging and actively participates in bar association committees.
Publications emphasize elder law clinical education and legal reform. She previously served as a staff attorney for the US Court of Appeals (9th Circuit) and practiced business litigation in Pittsburgh.
Leadership roles include Board service with the Southwestern Pennsylvania Partnership on Aging and active membership in state and national bar associations.
