Dr. Martha Canfield is a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Psychology at Glasgow Caledonian University (GCU), where she joined in October 2023. She holds honorary research positions at King's College London, the South London and Maudsley NHS Foundation Trust, and the Victoria University of Wellington. Her research focuses on substance misuse, mental health intersections, and social determinants of health, particularly examining family impacts and electronic health records. She advises the NIHR Research Design Service London and holds a PhD in Psychology (2015) and a Postgraduate Certificate in Applied Statistical Modelling and Health Informatics.
Key projects include 'Good Practice in Transfer Care' (focusing on mental health and community support) and 'Predicting the risk of opioid use disorder in non-cancer chronic pain.' Her work contributes to UN Sustainable Development Goals related to good health and well-being. She actively collaborates with institutions in Brazil and across the UK. Dr. Canfield is currently accepting PhD students and has been cited over 382 times with an h-index of 10.
