Professor Marta Hernández-Jover is a full-time Professor in Veterinary Epidemiology and Public Health and serves as the Dean of Veterinary Sciences at the School of Agricultural, Environmental and Veterinary Sciences, Charles Sturt University (CSU), Wagga Wagga. She has been at CSU since 2012 and is actively involved in research, teaching, and university governance, including membership in the CSU Academic Senate and the University Research Committee.
Her educational qualifications include a BVSc, MSc, PhD (on livestock traceability, 2006, Spain), MVPHMgt, MANZCVS, and a CSU Graduate Certificate in Teaching and Learning in Higher Education (2016).
Her research focuses on biosecurity, disease surveillance, veterinary epidemiology, and the integration of social science methods to address infectious animal diseases and public health challenges. She conducts transdisciplinary research in collaboration with government, industry, and international partners, particularly in Australia and Southeast Asia. Her work supports national biosecurity priorities and livestock industries.
Professor Hernández-Jover has published over 95 peer-reviewed articles and secured more than $8 million in external research funding. Her recent publications span topics in veterinary epidemiology, risk assessment, traceability, and socio-technical aspects of disease control.

She has supervised over 30 honours students and more than ten postgraduate students (MPh, PhD). She contributes to national capacity building by developing veterinary epidemiology training programs for Australian government agencies and Southeast Asian countries. She also serves as an examiner for the Epidemiology Chapter of the Australian and New Zealand College of Veterinary Scientists.
Professor Hernández-Jover is an Associate Editor for the Veterinary Humanities and Social Sciences and Veterinary Epidemiology sections of Frontiers in Veterinary Science. She is a member of the Epidemiology and Public Health Chapters of the Australian and New Zealand College of Veterinary Scientists since 2015 and served as President of the Epidemiology Chapter in 2018.
