Marshall Newman is an Assistant Professor at Augusta University, with dual appointments in the Dental College of Georgia (Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery) and the Medical College of Georgia (Department of Surgery). He serves as Program Director and Clinical Service Chief at Wellstar/MCG Health, specializing in cleft and craniofacial surgery.
- Education: DMD from Medical University of South Carolina (2014, Valedictorian), BS in Biology and Applied Mathematics from UNC Chapel Hill (2010).
Dr. Newman completed residencies and advanced fellowships in craniomaxillofacial surgery, including pediatric craniofacial surgery at Arnold Palmer Hospital for Children. His clinical expertise spans pediatric and adult craniofacial trauma, cleft lip and palate, and complex TMJ disorders. Recent research focuses on integrating clear aligner therapy with surgical interventions for anterior open bite and optimizing intraoperative navigation for TMJ replacement.
Publications highlight his work on rare pathologies (e.g., tenosynovial giant cell tumors) and evidence-based management of odontogenic keratocysts. He is board-certified in oral and maxillofacial surgery with a specialized pediatric CAQ, and holds fellowships in multiple surgical academies.
