Marsha Griggs, J.D., is an Associate Professor at the School of Law, Saint Louis University. Her academic work focuses on legal education, attorney licensing, and constitutional constraints in legal practice. She holds a B.S. from Northwestern University, a J.D. from the University of Notre Dame Law School, and an M.P.P. from the University of Texas at Dallas.
Professor Griggs is a leading voice in bar exam reform, co-authoring pivotal works like The Bar Exam and the COVID-19 Pandemic: The Need for Immediate Action. Her research critiques traditional licensure models and advocates for equitable, competency-based alternatives. She also explores constitutional dimensions of lawyer licensing and pandemic-era legal policy challenges.
Her publications emphasize reimagining legal education through clinical practice integration and online advocacy tools. Notable works include An Epic Fail (Howard Law Journal) and Building a Better Bar Exam (Texas A&M Law Review).
In 2021, she received the Trailblazer Award from the AALS Section on Academic Support. Professionally, she chairs the Bar Advocacy Committee for the Association of Academic Support Educators and serves on executive boards for the AALS and Society of American Law Teachers.
