Kirsha Trychta is a Professor and Director of the Academic Excellence Center at the West Virginia University College of Law. She teaches courses in criminal law, evidence, and bar preparation, and coaches intercollegiate advocacy teams. Her professional experience includes roles as Assistant Chief Counsel at Allegheny County Office of Conflict Counsel, Assistant District Attorney, and judicial law clerk. She holds a J.D. from Duquesne University School of Law and a B.S. in Honors Psychology from the University of Pittsburgh, where she also earned a Latin American Studies Certification. Professor Trychta is licensed in Pennsylvania and West Virginia and serves on leadership committees for the Association of Academic Support Educators (AASE) and AALS Section on Academic Support. Her scholarship focuses on academic support strategies and legal education, with recent leadership roles including co-chair of AASE's 2024-2025 annual meeting planning committee.
Her research emphasizes bridging academic performance and practical legal skills, with contributions to legal writing pedagogy and clinical education. She has presented nationally on topics like bar exam preparation and criminal defense advocacy. Professor Trychta’s academic excellence center supports law students through tailored academic interventions and skill development programs.
