Marnin Young is an Associate Professor and Chair of Art History at Yeshiva University. He holds a BA and PhD from the University of California, Berkeley. His research focuses on 19th-century art, art criticism, and the avant-garde. He authored Realism in the Age of Impressionism: Painting and the Politics of Time (Yale UP, 2015), which received prestigious awards. He has published widely in journals like The Art Bulletin and Art History.
Dr. Young’s teaching excellence has earned accolades, including the Silber Professor of the Year (2011) and three General Studies Professor of the Year awards (2011, 2012, 2015). He also co-edits Nonsite’s The Nineteenth Century series. His recent work examines exhibition practices and art criticism in late 19th-century France.
