Markus Tünte is a researcher at the University of Vienna’s Faculty of Psychology, Department of Developmental and Educational Psychology. His work focuses on interoceptive sensitivity’s role in social and cognitive development, particularly in infants and young children. He has led a major research project (Interoceptive sensitivity & social development in infancy, 2020–2024), funded to investigate how bodily awareness shapes early social interactions.
His research interests span developmental psychology, behavioral science, and clinical applications of interoceptive measures. Notable contributions include validating assessment tools like the Interoceptive Attention Scale and Body Perception Questionnaire, linking interoception to psychopathology and self-awareness. He has also explored pandemic-era policy through behavioral science frameworks in high-impact journals like Nature.
Collaborations include international teams studying infant cognition, embodied cognition, and ECG analysis. His work contributes to UN Sustainable Development Goals related to health and well-being through insights into early development and behavioral interventions.
