معرفی
Markus Basan is an Associate Professor of Systems Biology at Harvard Medical School, affiliated with the Systems Biology Department. His research focuses on understanding complex biological systems through quantitative and predictive approaches, using model organisms like Escherichia coli and Drosophila melanogaster.
Research Interests:
- Metabolic strategies during growth and adaptation
- Evolutionary trade-offs in microorganisms
- Cellular homeostasis of size, number, and composition
- Mechanisms of disease when homeostasis breaks down
- Quantitative biology at cellular and organism scales
His lab employs a combination of experimental and theoretical approaches, integrating physiology, genetic perturbations, omics technologies, and mathematical models to decode molecular mechanisms governing biological behaviors.
Recent Publications: His 2024 publications prominently feature studies on mechanical pressure responses, microbial community evolution, bacterial starvation survival, and cytoplasmic homeostasis, reflecting a strong focus on cellular physiology and systems-level understanding of microbial life.
