Mark de Zee is an Associate Professor in the Department of Health Science and Technology at Aalborg University, affiliated with The Faculty of Medicine and ExerciseTech. His research focuses on biomechanics, musculoskeletal modeling, and sports technology, emphasizing combined experimental and computational approaches to understand musculoskeletal systems. He has led projects on spinal modeling, cycling biomechanics, and hip prostheses, among others.
Key research interests include musculoskeletal model development, sports injury mechanisms, and ergonomics. He has published extensively, with recent studies on exoskeletons, footwear biomechanics, and performance metrics in sports like kayaking and running. Notably, he received the Best Oral Presentation at the 2022 Sprint Canoeing Congress and the 2018 Mimics Innovation Award.
His work addresses UN Sustainable Development Goals through advancements in sports technology and injury prevention. Collaborations span biomechanics, sports engineering, and occupational health. Current projects include evaluating exoskeleton effectiveness in logistics work and refining metabolic models for energy expenditure prediction.
