Dr Mark Wickham is a Senior Lecturer in Management and Deputy Head of School at the Tasmanian School of Business and Economics, University of Tasmania. He also serves as Discipline Leader (Management) and previously as Tourism & Hospitality Major Coordinator. His academic leadership roles reflect his strong engagement with strategic academic governance.

Mark's research focuses on strategic sustainability, social enterprise strategy, and corporate social responsibility in both for-profit and not-for-profit sectors. His work explores how sustainability principles from social enterprises can be adapted to traditional businesses. Key themes include reputation management, resource-based view, dynamic capabilities, and ethical strategic management, particularly in non-traditional organisational contexts such as arts, cultural, and community-based organisations.
His recent publications span topics including diversity and inclusion, entrepreneurial project management in social enterprises, festival reputation, and sustainable event management. His work often employs qualitative and theoretical frameworks to examine strategic communication and stakeholder engagement.

Mark has supervised 13 PhD students to completion and currently mentors several doctoral and master's candidates in areas such as corporate volunteering, workplace belonging, and governance. He has received internal research grants, including for projects on career-life balance audits and reconceptualising product in the arts. He is actively involved in academic service, including peer reviewing for journals like The International Journal of Organizational Analysis and The Qualitative Report.
He is a key member of research teams studying stakeholder management, social capital in festivals, and employer branding. His future work appears to focus on DEI, sustainable project management, and strategic communication in hybrid organisational forms.
