معرفی
Dr. Mark Walker is a Lecturer in Sustainable Engineering Systems at the University of Hull, affiliated with the School of Engineering's Mechanical Engineering department. He serves as the Director of Education in the School of Engineering. His academic background includes a MEng in Mechanical Engineering from Durham University (2004) and a PhD from the University of Southampton (2009), focusing on anaerobic digestion of biodegradable municipal waste.
His research emphasizes sustainable energy systems, particularly anaerobic digestion (AD), biogas applications, and decarbonization strategies. Key areas include AD integration into energy systems, wastewater treatment, and circular economy practices. He employs process modeling, techno-economic assessment (TEA), and lifecycle analysis (LCA) to design sustainable systems. Recent projects include evaluating CO2 biomethanation in digesters and assessing power-to-gas systems in wastewater plants.
Teaching responsibilities include modules on Sustainable Engineering Systems, Computational Fluid Dynamics, and Decarbonisation of Energy Systems. He is a co-investigator on the IITM-Hull Biorefinery Centre project (2025–2026), focusing on bioresource management. His work aligns with global sustainable development goals, addressing sanitation, energy access, and environmental sustainability in both developed and developing regions.
