Mark Wacome Stevick serves as Professor of English in the Department of English within Gordon College's School of Humanities and Social Sciences, where he oversees the creative writing program and directs the Princemere Visiting Writers Series.
His academic background includes:
- B.A. from Gordon College
- M.A. from Boston University, where he studied under poets Derek Walcott and Robert Pinsky
Professor Stevick's creative scholarship spans Creative Writing across multiple genres (poetry, fiction, essays), History-Based Playwriting exemplified by decades-long Salem productions like "Cry Innocent" and "Goodnight, Captain White", Ekphrastic Poetry (art-inspired verse), and Film/Documentary Production. He integrates these interests through Gordon's Orvieto program workshops and campus writing seminars across six genres.
He actively mentors students through The Moth storytelling performances in Boston and co-leads Gordon's annual London/Edinburgh theatre seminar teaching "Writing the City". His pre-academic radio career informs his public speaking instruction and narrative techniques.
