Ann Keniston is a Professor of English at the University of Nevada, Reno, specializing in American poetry. She holds a Ph.D. from Boston University (2002), an M.A. from New York University (1991), and a B.A. from the University of Chicago (1983). Her research focuses on the history and theory of poetry, gender in literature, lyric theory, and the intersection of poetry with public engagement and ethics.
Keniston has authored three monographs, including Economies of Scale (2023), which received critical acclaim, and edited four volumes on contemporary American poetry and literature post-9/11. Her creative works include poetry collections like Somatic (2020) and The Caution of Human Gestures (2005), alongside chapbooks and essays in journals such as Gettysburg Review and Fourth Genre.
- Awards: Warren-Brooks Award (2016), Academy of American Poets Prize (twice), Nevada Arts Council grants.
- Teaching: Courses include Advanced Poetry Writing, American Poetry seminars, and ethics-focused literature studies.
