Dr. Mark Tremblay is a Full Professor in the Department of Pediatrics at the University of Ottawa’s Faculty of Medicine and a Senior Scientist at the Healthy Active Living and Obesity (HALO) Research Group at the Children’s Hospital of Eastern Ontario Research Institute. He holds adjunct/visiting professorships at five universities globally and is a Fellow of the Canadian Society for Exercise Physiology, the Canadian Academy of Health Sciences, and the American College of Sports Medicine.
- Education: BCom (Sports Administration) and BPE (Physical & Health Education), Laurentian University; MSc and PhD (Community Health), University of Toronto.
- Research Focus: Pediatric exercise science, childhood obesity, physical activity measurement, sedentary behavior physiology, health surveillance, outdoor play, and knowledge translation.
He has authored over 600 publications with an h-index of 108, cited >48,000 times. Recognized globally as a leader in healthy active living, he founded the Sedentary Behaviour Research Network (SBRN) and co-founded Outdoor Play Canada. His work emphasizes policy translation and global advocacy through the Active Healthy Kids Global Alliance.
- Awards: Over 15 major awards including the CIHR Trailblazer Award, Queen Elizabeth II Medal, and multiple international recognition for research excellence.
