Dr. Thomas specializes in German Idealism with concentrated research on Schelling's philosophy of freedom and systematic reality structure. His expertise spans metaphysics, epistemology, aesthetics, and technology's philosophical implications, evidenced by his 2023 monograph Freedom and Ground: A Study of Schelling’s Treatise on Freedom (SUNY Press) and articles in Schelling-Studien, Research in Phenomenology, Epoché, and The Proceedings of the American Catholic Philosophical Association.
He serves as advisor to the Philosophy Club and integrates his passion for German language and culture—forged during two years of dissertation research in Freiburg—into his academic work. An accomplished organist and clavichord player from his undergraduate music studies, he maintains these artistic pursuits alongside his philosophical scholarship.
