Associate Professor Andrés Quero-Sánchez (born August 11, 1966 in Andújar, Spain) serves at the Institute of Philosophy, University of Regensburg, where he has held his position since June 2011. He also directs the Philosophical Department of the International Institute for German Culture Andújar (MAQUE) in Spain since July 2020.
His educational background includes a Licenciado en Filosofía y Letras from Universidad de Granada (1989), followed by German and Philosophy studies at the University of Regensburg where he earned his Master's degree with highest honors (1.0). He received his doctorate in 2002 with the dissertation Plenitudo esse as Freedom. The Idealistic Metaphysics of Meister Eckhart and Johann Gottlieb Fichte (summa cum laude) and completed his habilitation in 2010 with Above which existence. Albert the Great's realistic correction of idealism.
Quero-Sánchez specializes in the intersection of medieval philosophy and German Idealism, particularly focusing on connections between Meister Eckhart's mysticism and Schelling's philosophy. His DFG-funded research project The Eternal Concept of the Individual demonstrated for the first time philological evidence of Schelling's connection to Meister Eckhart's tradition, revealing two distinct phases of Eckhart's reception in Schelling's development.
