Thimo Heisenberg is an Assistant Professor (tenure-track) in the Department of Philosophy at Rice University. He holds a PhD from Columbia University (2019) and specializes in 19th and 20th century German Philosophy, with particular focus on Hegel, Fichte, and Schelling. His research bridges German Idealism with contemporary political economy and social theory.

Current projects involve a book on The Economy in German Idealism, Schelling’s metaphysics of freedom, and Hegel’s biological-political thought. Recent publications explore themes like Hegel’s philosophy of money, Fichte’s concept of free time, and the social implications of mortality. These works engage with interdisciplinary debates about capitalism, modernity, and existential philosophy.
