Mark Sutherland

Mark Sutherland is a Lecturer in Biochemistry at the School of Chemistry and Biosciences, University of Bradford. He holds an MSc in Microbiology from the University of Stellenbosch, South Africa, and a PhD in Medical Biochemistry from Charité – Campus Benjamin Franklin, Berlin, Germany.

• Research focus: Integrins as anti-cancer drug targets in prostate cancer/melanoma; sialyltransferases in neuroblastoma
• Expertise: Lentivirus knockout models, ELISA development, protein expression/purification (GST-tagged E.coli), luciferase reporter assays
• Teaching: Laboratory skills for MSc/PhD students; undergraduate/MSc lectures

Professional background includes postdoctoral research in immunotoxins at Berlin institutions (2000-2005) and research roles at the Institute of Cancer Therapeutics (2005-present) generating proof-of-concept data for grants/patents.
