Mark Suozzo is an Associate Professor and co-director of Film Scoring in the Department of Music and Performing Arts Professions at New York University’s Steinhardt School. He holds a Master of Music from Manhattan School of Music and a BA from Columbia University.
His career spans composing, orchestrating, and conducting for film, television, and live performances. Notable collaborations include scoring films for Whit Stillman, Shari Springer-Berman, Bob Pulcini, and Mary Harron, alongside television work for HBO, PBS, and the Hallmark Channel. As an arranger, he has worked with artists like Creed, Aretha Franklin, and Britney Spears. His orchestrations for the New York Pops Orchestra at Carnegie Hall have featured prominent soloists.
Research interests focus on the intersection of music and visual media, emphasizing collaborative processes in film and television scoring. Advising and grants: Co-directs the Film Scoring program at NYU Steinhardt, fostering interdisciplinary collaboration. Labs/Teams: Integral to the Screen Scoring program, which provides recording opportunities and cross-school collaborations at NYU.
