Dr. Mark Steven Lachs is the Irene and Roy Psaty Distinguished Professor of Clinical Medicine and Professor of Medicine at Weill Cornell Medical College, affiliated with NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital. He serves as Co-Chief of Geriatrics and Palliative Medicine and Director of Geriatrics at the New York Presbyterian Health Care System. His research focuses on elder abuse, neglect, functional status measurement, and healthcare ethics. He has held leadership roles in aging research, including founding the Cornell Center for Aging Research and Clinical Care (CARCC).
Education: MD from NYU School of Medicine (1985), MPH from Yale University (1990). Board certifications in Internal Medicine and Geriatric Medicine. Awards include the Paul Beeson Physician Faculty Scholarship and NIH RO1 funding. He advises the World Health Organization on elder abuse and leads initiatives to reduce resident-to-resident aggression in long-term care settings.
External roles include advisory board memberships and leadership in aging-related organizations. His work emphasizes translational research and improving care for older adults through multidisciplinary collaboration and innovative interventions.
