Mark S. Lachs, M.D., M.P.H., is the Irene and Roy Psaty Distinguished Professor of Clinical Medicine and Professor of Medicine at Weill Cornell Medical College, Cornell University. He serves as Co-Chief of Geriatrics and Palliative Medicine and Director of Geriatrics for the NewYork-Presbyterian Health Care System. His clinical and academic work is centered at the Center on Aging and the Irving Sherwood Wright Center on Aging in New York City.

Dr. Lachs specializes in geriatric medicine with a major focus on the disenfranchised elderly. His research spans elder abuse and neglect, adult protective services, functional status measurement, ethics, and healthcare financing. He has published extensively and is internationally recognized for his contributions to aging research and clinical care. His recent work emphasizes elder mistreatment screening, intervention development, and health outcomes in vulnerable older populations, including studies on resident-to-resident aggression, medication complexity in heart failure, and digital tools for advance care planning.

He leads the Vulnerable Elder Protection Team and founded the Cornell Center for Aging Research and Clinical Care (CARCC). He also maintains a clinical practice focused on outpatient, hospital, long-term care, and house call settings. His leadership extends to advisory roles in organizations such as the American Federation for Aging Research and CompassCare Digital LLC.
