Mark Prince is a Senior Lecturer in Mechanical, Biomedical & Design Engineering at Aston University's College of Engineering and Physical Sciences. He is affiliated with the EPS Education and Professional Practice Academic Research Group and the Aston Advanced Materials research group. His research focuses on 3D printing, additive manufacturing technologies, and innovative engineering education methodologies, particularly active and problem-based learning. Prince actively collaborates with industry through projects like the ERDF Smarterials initiative and supervises student projects via the Mechanical Engineering and Design Industry Club.
He holds a PhD, MEng, and PGCPP in addition to being a Senior Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (HEA). His work spans academic and industrial partnerships, including Knowledge Transfer Partnership projects. Prince's research has addressed topics such as microfluidics, protein crystallography, and biomedical device design, with a focus on practical applications and educational innovation.
His publications highlight contributions to additive manufacturing optimization, student learning outcomes analysis, and the development of automated laboratory systems. Prince has served as an External Examiner from 2019 to 2023, demonstrating his commitment to academic standards and professional practice.
