Surej Mouli is a Lecturer in the Department of Mechanical, Biomedical & Design Engineering at Aston University, part of the College of Engineering and Physical Sciences. He is affiliated with the EPS Education and Professional Practice Academic Research Group and Engineering for Health. His research focuses on developing intelligent healthcare systems, including IoT medical frameworks, biosignal acquisition systems (EEG/ECG), and precision therapies like photobiomodulation and vagus nerve stimulation. He supervises PhD students and teaches courses such as Clinical Trials and Research Design (MEng) and Biomedical Signal Processing.
Education includes a PhD from the University of Kent (2018), an MSc in Strategic Implementation of Cloud Computing from the University of Wolverhampton (2012), and another MSc in Mobile Interactive Multimedia Information Systems (2009). Professional memberships include Fellow Chartered Management Institute (FCMI), Senior Fellow Higher Education Academy (SFHEA), and Senior Member IEEE (SMIEEE).
As Admissions Tutor for Biomedical Engineering, he oversees admissions processes. His work integrates technology and medicine, emphasizing edge computing for efficient healthcare solutions and adaptive protocols for medical interventions. Research collaborations span biomedical engineering, neurotechnology, and wearable devices for patient monitoring.
