Mark Nicholas is an Assistant Professor of Sociology at the University of Wisconsin–Madison, affiliated with the Center for Demography and Ecology and the Interdisciplinary Training Program. His research examines how social policy and contextual stressors influence health, fertility, and family outcomes, with a focus on racial/ethnic and age disparities.

His methodologically diverse work includes quasi-experimental studies on sex education funding's impact on teen births, longitudinal analyses of the Great Recession's effects on fertility, and investigations into police contact's influence on student outcomes.
