Mark Nartey

Dr. Mark Nartey is a Senior Lecturer in English Language and Linguistics at the University of the West of England, affiliated with the Bristol Centre for Linguistics. His interdisciplinary research examines language use in sociocultural contexts, focusing on identity construction, resistance, and political discourse.

His methodological frameworks include (critical) discourse analysis, critical metaphor analysis, and discourse-mythological analysis, integrated with corpus linguistics and insights from political science and communication studies. Research spans Ghana, China, the U.S., and the U.K., emphasizing comparative and transformative approaches.

Recent publications analyze resistance discourse in Ghanaian activism, climate change communication in China, and political myth-making in African contexts. He actively collaborates with PhD students and postdocs in discourse studies and sociolinguistics.
