Mark Mulcahy is Professor of Corporate Finance at Cork University Business School (CUBS), University College Cork, where he is based in the Department of Accounting and Finance. He teaches across undergraduate and postgraduate programmes, delivering modules in corporate finance, valuation and fixed income securities.
Professor Mulcahy holds the following academic credentials:
- First class honours B.Comm. from National University of Ireland (Cork)
- M.Sc. from National University of Ireland (Cork)
- Ph.D. from National University of Ireland (Cork)
- Certificate in teaching and learning from Cambridge Judge Business School, Warsaw School of Economics and IESE
- Short course certificate in senior leadership from the Irish Management Institute
His research expertise centers on corporate finance with specific focus on valuation, governance, venture capital and applied accounting. Professor Mulcahy places practical, industry relevant and research-led teaching at the core of his approach, having published award winning case studies. His scholarly work appears in leading international journals including the European Journal of Finance, British Accounting Review, and British Journal of Management.
Professor Mulcahy has held significant leadership roles at CUBS, including two terms as Head of the Department of Accounting and Finance, Vice-Dean for Accreditation and Governance, and member of the CUBS board. He previously served as Programme Director of the BSc Finance degree and established the industry-recognized MSc Finance (Investment and Asset Management) programme.
With extensive industry experience, Professor Mulcahy previously held senior equity research positions at Prudential Volpe Technology Group and Wedbush Morgan Securities in San Francisco, and senior equity sales roles with Investec in Dublin. He is a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) since 2000 and holds the Islamic Finance Qualification (IFQ).
