Dr. Oliver Browne serves as a Lecturer in Accounting at Cork University Business School (CUBS), University College Cork (UCC), where he also directs the MSc in Accounting and Performance Analytics program. Based in ORB 3.09 of the O'Rahilly Building, he teaches Financial and Management Accounting across undergraduate and postgraduate levels.
His research critically examines the intersection of Financial Technology (FinTech), regulatory frameworks, and financial ecosystems, with particular focus on how FinTech innovations impact financial incumbents, new market entrants, and regulatory bodies. Currently, as the 2025 Patrick J. McGovern Fellow at Rutgers University, he investigates ownership dispersion effects on agency costs and economic performance in UK Employee Ownership Trusts (EOTs).
Dr. Browne's scholarly contributions appear in leading journals including the British Journal of Management (BJM) and the Journal of the Association for Information Science and Technology (JASIST), with presentations at major conferences like the International Conference on Information Systems (ICIS). His work maintains strong industry connections, ensuring practical relevance to financial technology and regulatory strategies.

Prior to academia, Dr. Browne gained professional experience in Treasury at Bank of Ireland, Ireland's largest retail bank. He holds a comprehensive educational background from UCC including a PhD in FinTech, MSc in Corporate Finance, BSc in Finance, and teaching qualifications. His industry experience directly informs his research on regulatory and risk reporting within evolving financial landscapes.
