Mark Mirotznik is a Professor and Interim Chair at the University of Delaware. His research focuses on developing theoretical, computational, and experimental techniques in electromagnetics and optics, with three primary application areas: biomedical instrumentation, engineered electromagnetic materials, and computational imaging. He leads a research group that has pioneered rapid prototyping facilities for advanced electromagnetic materials, supported by grants from the Office of Naval Research and Army Research Laboratory. His work includes innovations in metasurface antennas, conformal beamforming systems, and additive manufacturing techniques for RF components.
Research Interests: Prof. Mirotznik’s expertise spans biomedical smart catheters for minimally invasive diagnostics, metamaterials for military vehicle integration, and integrated imaging systems for maximizing information content through optimized optical and computational strategies. Recent projects emphasize passive beam steering using modified Maxwell fisheye lenses and MXene-based materials for enhanced electromagnetic properties.
