Professor Mark McMillan is a Wiradjuri man and a Research Professor at Melbourne Law School, University of Melbourne since 2011. He specializes in human rights with a focus on Indigenous Australians' rights fulfillment. His research explores nationhood, governance strategies for Aboriginal communities, and structural justice in historical contexts.
He leads multiple grants funded by the Australian Research Council (ARC), including studies on Indigenous self-governance, comparative reconciliation frameworks, and the National Indigenous Research and Knowledge Network (NIRAKN). Additional grants from the Melbourne School of Government and Social Equity Institute address methamphetamine use in Victorian Aboriginal communities and Indigenous student engagement strategies.
