Prof Faye McMillan is a Wiradjuri woman and Professor serving as Head of Discipline in Indigenous Health at the University of Technology Sydney (UTS)'s School of Public Health. She holds multiple roles, including Senior Fellowships with the Commonwealth Fund Harkness Program, Atlantic Institute for Social Equity, and Advance HE. Her work focuses on Indigenous health equity, rural healthcare workforce development, and culturally safe healthcare systems. She has held leadership roles such as Deputy National Rural Health Commissioner for Allied Health and First Nations Health (2021–2025), and co-founded Indigenous Allied Health Australia (IAHA).
Education & Awards: Awarded the Medal of the Order of Australia (AM) in 2021 for contributions to Indigenous mental health and education, named NSW Aboriginal Woman of the Year (2019), and PSA Australian Pharmacist of the Year (2022). Her research emphasizes closing health gaps for Indigenous populations and improving healthcare access in rural regions.
Key Research Interests: Indigenous health policy, pharmacy practice in remote areas, culturally responsive healthcare mentoring, and equitable healthcare system design. Her projects include evaluating interventions like the Transition of Care Stewardship program and co-designing safety education resources with Indigenous communities.
Grants & Collaborations: Leads funded projects such as 'Our Wisdom, Our Ways' (2022–2026) supporting Aboriginal carers and a study on antibiotic treatments for bacterial STIs. Collaborates with organizations like the Aboriginal Health and Medical Research Council and the Commonwealth Fund.
