Dr Anita Heiss AM is a Wiradjuri writer and Professor of Communications at the University of Queensland. She serves on boards for National Justice Project, Aboriginal Art Co, and Circa Contemporary Theatre. Her research focuses on Aboriginal literature, cultural representation, and reconciliation advocacy. Notable roles include Lifetime Ambassador for Indigenous Literacy Foundation and Ambassador for Worawa Aboriginal College.
Her academic work spans children's literature, non-fiction, and adult fiction. Key publications include Bila Yarrudhanggalangdhuray (NSW Literary Prize winner), Am I Black Enough for You?, and edited volumes like The Macquarie PEN Anthology of Aboriginal Literature. She has lectured globally on Indigenous literature and performs internationally.
