This strong academic foundation has positioned him as a preeminent historian with expertise spanning multiple historical periods and geographical regions.
Mazower's research focuses on modern Greek history, 20th-century European history, and international history, with recent work examining the historical evolution of the Greek islands over the very long term. His scholarship bridges academic rigor with public engagement, as he frequently contributes commentary on international affairs and book reviews to major publications including the Financial Times, The Nation, the London Review of Books, and the New York Review of Books.
