Mark Mattson is currently Chief of the Laboratory of Neurosciences at the National Institute on Aging and Professor of Neuroscience at Johns Hopkins University, recognized as a leader in cellular and molecular mechanisms underlying neuronal plasticity and neurodegenerative disorders.
His research investigates:
- Neuroprotective effects of intermittent fasting and exercise against Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s diseases
- Mechanisms involving BDNF, mitochondrial biogenesis, and autophagy
