Professor Mark Limmer is a Professor of Adolescent Public Health and Head of the Department of Health Research at Lancaster University's Faculty of Health and Medicine. His research focuses on adolescent health risk behaviors, particularly sexual health, substance use, and the intersections of masculinities and social exclusion. He emphasizes contextual factors over individual behavior change to improve public health outcomes.
Key projects include the Health Innovation with Children and Young People (2023-2024) and Global LARC Rights Collaborative, exploring long-acting reversible contraception (LARC) ethics. He supervises PhD student Jes Madondo.
Limmer has contributed to over 60 publications, including studies on LGBTQ+ mental health, nature-based interventions for mental health, and opioid substitution therapies. His work often employs realist reviews and participatory methods to inform policy and practice.
