Mark Kayser is a Professor at the Hertie School in Berlin, specializing in Applied Quantitative Methods and Comparative Politics. His research focuses on the economic foundations of democracy, political accountability, electoral competition's impact on policy-making, and economic factors shaping electoral preferences.
Prior to his current role, he held academic positions as an Assistant Professor of Political Science at the University of Rochester, a Postdoctoral Prize Research Fellow at Nuffield College, Oxford, and a fellow at Stanford University's Center for Advanced Studies in the Behavioral Sciences.
His scholarly work includes a co-authored book published by Cambridge University Press, examining electoral systems' effects on regulation and price levels, and articles in top-tier journals such as American Political Science Review, American Journal of Political Science, and Political Analysis. He actively contributes to editorial and advisory boards in his field.
