Mark Hudson

Mark Hudson is a Professor and Coordinator of the Global Political Economy Program at the University of Manitoba's Faculty of Arts, jointly affiliated with the Department of Sociology and Criminology. His office is located at 333 Isbister Building, 183 Dafoe Road, Winnipeg.

Education includes a PhD in Sociology (University of Oregon, 2007), MES in Environmental Studies (York University, 1998), and BA Honours in Economics (University of Manitoba, 1995).

Research explores capitalism's organization of society-nature relations, with current projects on:

• Unionization impacts on health/income/environmental inequality
• Building-sector transitions from fossil fuels (with IISD/CCPA-MB)
• Worker perspectives on climate change

Past work includes fair trade coffee in Chiapas, wildland fire political economy, and neoliberal environmental consequences. Affiliations include the Critical Environments Research Group and Canadian Centre for Policy Alternatives-Manitoba.

Publications consistently bridge political economy, labor, and environmental sociology, with recent emphasis on unionization-environment linkages and fossil fuel finance, evolving from earlier work on fair trade and commodity theory.
