Mark Hovenden is a Professor in Biological Sciences at the School of Natural Sciences, University of Tasmania. His research focuses on understanding plant communities, ecosystem functioning, and the impacts of climate change. He leads the Plant Ecology Research Group, conducting field experiments like TasFACE2, which investigates CO₂ enrichment and water availability effects on grassland ecosystems. Hovenden’s career spans over two decades, with a PhD from the University of Tasmania (1996) and a BSc(Hons) from the University of Sydney (1990). His work integrates field manipulations with laboratory studies to assess ecosystem responses to global changes.
