Leon Barmuta

Associate Professor Leon Barmuta is an academic in Biological Sciences at the University of Tasmania's School of Natural Sciences. His research focuses on freshwater ecology, particularly the impacts of land use changes, climate change, and invasive species on aquatic ecosystems. He has contributed to national water quality guidelines and pioneered studies on climate change effects in Tasmanian freshwater biodiversity. Barmuta holds a PhD from Monash University (1987) and a BSc (Hons) from the University of Adelaide (1978).
