معرفی
Professor Sally Power is an ecosystems ecologist at the Hawkesbury Institute for the Environment (HIE), Western Sydney University. Her research focuses on climate change impacts on terrestrial ecosystems, particularly through long-term field experiments manipulating nitrogen, ozone, rainfall, and temperature. She has held leadership roles including Chair of HIE's Teaching Committee and membership in national/international committees like the Academic Senate’s Education Committee and the European Heathlands Network. Her work bridges ecological science with public engagement, including outreach initiatives involving schools and communities.
Research Interests
Her expertise spans ecosystems ecology, plant-soil interactions, and grassland responses to global change. Recent projects address multi-driver global change effects (climate, eutrophication, biodiversity loss) and urban forest resilience. She leads studies on pollinator conservation, agroecosystem sustainability, and climate adaptation strategies for urban green spaces.
Grants
Current projects include 'Supporting the health and expansion of the Australian stingless bee industry' (2023-2028) and 'Climate change and urban forest sustainability' (2022-2023). Past grants include studies on pasture systems under climate extremes (2017-2020) and biodiversity-carbon dynamics in golf courses (2013-2015).
Awards
Recipient of the Elsie Widdowson Research Fellowship (2005) and recognized for contributions to ecological continuity and teaching excellence.
