Mark Hearn

Dr. Mark Hearn is an Honorary Senior Lecturer in the Department of History and Archaeology at Macquarie University, specializing in historical theory, historiography, and the fin de siècle (1890–1914). His work examines Australia’s intellectual and governance history during this period. He holds a PhD from the University of Sydney (2001) and has held prestigious fellowships, including the 2006 C.H. Currey Memorial Fellowship and the 2014–2015 Australian Prime Minister’s Centre Fellowship. His 2022 book, The Fin de Siècle Imagination in Australia, explores cultural narratives of modernity. Hearn’s research also engages with transnational ideas, liberal governmentality, and labor movements.
