Dr. Mark Gormley is a Consultant Senior Lecturer and Programme Director in Oral Surgery at the Bristol Dental School, University of Bristol. He specializes in dental education and clinical research focusing on head and neck cancer, particularly through genetic epidemiology approaches. His academic credentials include a BDS (Hons), MMEd, MSt, PhD, MOral Surg, and he is a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (FHEA) and the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh (FDS(OS) RCSEd).
His research interests span genetic epidemiology, head and neck cancer, dental education, and population health. He actively contributes to multidisciplinary national guidelines on head and neck cancer care and has pioneered risk prediction models for the disease.
