Mark Fonstad

Mark Alan Fonstad is an Associate Professor of Geography at the University of Oregon, Department of Geography, within the College of Arts and Sciences. His research focuses on riverscape dynamics, geomorphology, hydrology, and remote sensing, particularly in mountain environments and river ecosystems. Fonstad holds a Ph.D. in Geography from Arizona State University (2000), with earlier degrees from Ohio University (M.A., 2000) and the University of Wisconsin (B.S., 1996). His career includes postdoctoral research at Montana State University (2000-2001) and faculty roles at Texas State University (2001-2011) before joining the University of Oregon in 2011.
